Jorge Castillo-Romero – Piano Lessons

Hello Students & Parents. My name is Jorge and I am a home visit piano teacher born and raised in Caracas/Venezuela. I am currently studying a Bachelor in Music and Jazz Performance at the prestigious Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA)

My teaching goal is to instil music appreciation and education to students of all ages and cultural backgrounds. My lessons are tailored to meet students’ diverse needs, and capture their interests and imagination. I am a trustworthy teacher with exceptional communication, interpersonal and leadership skills and I aim to cultivate strong relationships with my students and parents.

I believe in the inherit wealth that comes with musical exposure; the healing nature of music and that everyone has the right to listen to music and receive musical education.

I have over 6 years experience as a freelance music teacher and musical director of various school bands. I have been the owner and musical director of a Latin music ensemble and worked as a piano player in different Latin and Latin-Jazz ensembles. I am currently performing with different ensembles in the demanding Perth Music Scene

My educational background is a Diploma in Classical Music, a Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering, a Master in Engineering Management, and as mentioned before, currently studying my Bachelor in Jazz at WAAPA.

My teaching areas of expertise are: basic classical music, pop music, Latin music, music theory and Ensembles:

• Classical Basics – technical development, learning pieces in the style of Mozart, Bach, Chopin, Haydn, Beethoven, etc…
• Pop Basics – Chord chart reading and interpretation
• Latin music – Latin rhythms, coordination, montunos and more.
• Music Theory – Scales, arpeggios, chord drills, aural, reading, etc…
• Ensembles – forming ensembles, arranging, rehearsing, band dynamics, etc

I speak both Spanish and English.
