Michael Poppen – Piano Lessons

Hello parents and Students, I am Michael Poppen and I am a piano teacher with over ten years of experience on my instrument. Introduced to the piano by my grandfather from an early age, my dedication to my instrument has taken me many places and won me many awards including a music scholarship for my high school. I am a confident and dedicated individual and with the assistance of Music Central mentors I am enthusiastic about gaining more teaching experience over the next 12 months and beyond. As well as delivering fun and instructive piano lessons during my high school years, I have played in many bands, choirs and various ensembles spanning different genres including classical, jazz, rock and popular music. I have proudly completed various musical examinations on my instrument and therefore can therefore walk students through the AMEB, Trinity or “RockSchool” curriculum if they desire. I am also willing to help create a more relaxed lesson plan where we can learn some chords and learn songs that the student can choose.

In an attempt to make my private music lessons even more effective, I am currently pursuing a tertiary degree in education. Because of my studious nature I have a willingness to learn and remain flexible in lesson planning with parents and students. Above all, I believe that with a good ear and a good attitude towards music anything is possible.
